CAYSA Programs
The mission of the Capitol Area Youth Symphony Association is to provide high quality symphonic experiences and performance opportunities for young musicians and to foster a life-long awareness and appreciation of the musical arts among youth and adults in the community.
CAYSA provides opportunities for students who wish to expand their knowledge of music and participate in performances with peers who have a similar interest.
Founded in 1982, CAYSA currently has three programs:
- Youth Symphony, whose members are at the advanced high school level and perform original concert repertoire
- Junior Symphony, whose members are at the middle school/beginning high school level and combine strings, winds, and percussion to perform arrangements of symphony music
- String Philharmonic, whose members are at the advanced elementary/beginning middle school level, and include violins, violas, cellos, basses, and harps
CAYSA provides these talented young musicians with the conductors, staff, volunteers, and rehearsal space they need to prepare for and host three performances per season for each of the programs listed above.
